Our Mission

In fast-food restaurants everywhere, entire shelves of bread and other food are thrown away each day.

I realized that I could take action by reusing food in my family’s subway restaurants. I wanted to give it back to people who needed it most, but learned it was illegal to share discarded food. That is when I turned to my dog Charlie. I determined that if I could not give the food to people, I could incorporate it in dog treats.   I reached out to all of my family’s restaurants, telling them to save any leftover food at the end of the day.  I created a recipe mainly incorporating bread. Before I broadened my scope, I reached out to family and friends, and asked them for feedback on how to improve the recipe. Then, I began going to farmers markets and pet stores in the area. All the money earned goes towards animal shelters and charities.

A Little About Me

My name is Roshni! I'm currently a sophomore at the Madeira school in northern Virginia, and I’m active in my school as a member of the environmental club—over the past year, I’ve helped implement a compost bin, create a garden, and raise money towards various organizations. I’ve also taken Coursera classes on how to improve sustainability through nutrition and diet. I look forward to continuing my mission to reduce food waste and make a positive impact on our planet!
